The VoiceAware AI app requires the following permissions to function properly:
- Microphone Access (RECORD_AUDIO) - Required to capture external audio and voice to perform silence-skipping recording.
- Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE) - Required to maintain audio recording and silence detection when the app is in the background or the screen is off.
- Notifications Access (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) - Required to show a persistent recording controller in your notification drawer so you can stop or monitor recording easily.
- Storage Access (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) - Required to save the captured M4A/audio files locally to your device storage.
- Wake Lock (WAKE_LOCK) - Used to prevent the CPU from entering deep sleep during active recording sessions to ensure continuous recording.
- Internet (INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) - Used for loading customized advertisements and sending diagnostic logs (Crashlytics).
We do not collect, store, or transmit your voice recordings or audio data to any remote servers. All voice detection and audio file creation are processed locally on your device.
How We Use Your Information
The permissions requested are used solely for:
- Processing real-time decibel levels and running the Voice Activity Detection (VAD) model.
- Saving, managing, and exporting recordings to your local storage.
- Providing background controls via active notifications.
Data Storage and Retention
All audio recordings are stored in your device's internal storage or chosen local directories. You have full control over these files and can delete them at any time. We do not maintain any copy of your files.
Third-Party Services
Our app incorporates third-party SDKs to support its development and stability. These services may collect anonymous identifiers and usage statistics:
- Google AdMob - For serving personalized or non-personalized advertisements.
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics - For monitoring app performance, stability, and crashes.
We do not share any personal details or recordings with these third parties.
Children's Privacy
Our app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since no audio files or personal data are collected or sent to our servers from any user, children's privacy is fully respected and protected.
