ZeroShare: Offline File Share

Introduction

CodeToEase ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we handle your data when you use our ZeroShare application.

100% Offline & Local Peer-to-Peer Transfer

ZeroShare is built from the ground up as a fully offline, local file-sharing utility. When you share files, stream videos, or sync clipboard text, the data travels directly between your Android phone and the connected web browser (or peer device) over your local Wi-Fi network or portable Wi-Fi hotspot.

Your files never touch external cloud servers. We do not operate any remote file storage infrastructure, and we never view, intercept, or log your personal photos, videos, documents, or clipboard contents.

Information We Collect & Permissions

The ZeroShare app requires the following runtime permissions strictly to perform local file sharing:

  • Storage & Media Access (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) — Required solely to allow you to select files, media, and folders you wish to share, and to save received files into your device's Downloads directory. The app only accesses files you explicitly choose to transfer.
  • Nearby Devices & Wi-Fi Access (ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_STATE, NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES, ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) — Required on Android to discover local peers, host the embedded local web server, and establish high-speed offline Wi-Fi Direct or hotspot connections. Location access (where required by Android OS for Wi-Fi scanning) is never recorded or used to track your physical whereabouts.
  • Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_CONNECTED_DEVICE) — Required to keep the local file-sharing portal alive in the background while transferring large files or when using the Quick Settings tile.
  • Notifications Access (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — Required to display real-time file transfer progress and portal status in your notification drawer.

How We Use Your Information

The requested permissions are used exclusively for:

  • Serving your selected files over the local HTTP server to the connected browser.
  • Receiving uploaded files from your PC or other devices directly into your Downloads folder.
  • Synchronizing clipboard text and live ephemeral chat locally between connected devices.

Data Storage and Retention

All shared and received files remain stored solely on your device's local storage. You retain complete ownership and control over your files at all times. No files are retained on our servers because we operate zero server-side file storage.

Third-Party Diagnostic Services

To diagnose crashes and ensure smooth performance across diverse Android devices, ZeroShare includes the following third-party diagnostic SDKs:

  • Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (Google LLC) — For tracking anonymous crash logs, technical stack traces, and aggregated non-identifiable usage statistics (e.g. app version, total transfers count). Firebase does NOT collect your personal file names, file contents, or personal identity.

Children's Privacy

ZeroShare is an offline utility tool and does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under 13. Since no personal files or account data are gathered or transmitted to remote servers, children's privacy is fully protected.
